Helen Stickney PhD is a certified death doula and meditation instructor who specializes in contemplative approaches to mortality and grief.   She left a career as a linguistics professor to pursue her life’s calling–to help those undergoing the transitions of death and grief.  She is certified in Integrative Thanatology as well.

She talks with us about her journey from academia to working at hospice, to becoming a death doula.  She has many interesting experiences and insights to share.  She mentioned that death has been a kind of “advisor” to her with deep lessons to teach.
